Melody had a silver flute she found at the bottom of a jumble sale box.
When she played it, strange things happened.
The first time she played a quick dancing tune, all the leaves in the garden blew in circles — even though there was no wind.
The second time, she played something slow and sad, and it started to rain. Just lightly. Just for a minute.
The third time, she played the brightest, silliest, bounciest tune she knew — and a robin landed on the fence and sang along.
Melody wasn't sure if the flute was magic, or if the world just paid more attention to music than she had realised.
But from that day on, whenever she played, she watched carefully.
And the world always seemed to listen back.
