Theo and Archie wanted to build a treehouse.
Theo was good at planning. He drew careful diagrams and made lists. Archie was good at doing. He could hammer a nail in three hits.
But doing it together was harder than either of them expected.
Theo kept wanting to stop and plan. Archie kept wanting to skip ahead.
"We need to measure first," said Theo. "We can fix it as we go," said Archie.
They argued all morning.
By afternoon, the floor was crooked and one wall was leaning.
They sat in the leaning, crooked treehouse and looked at each other.
"I should have listened more," said Archie.
"I should have done more," said Theo.
They fixed the floor. They straightened the wall. They worked slowly, this time listening to each other.
By evening, the treehouse was solid. Not perfect. But theirs.
They sat inside it as the sun went down, eating crisps, saying nothing.
It was the best thing either of them had ever made.
